Naturopathic Medicine & Acupuncture

Naturopathic Medicine is a model of health care in which treatment is focused on disease prevention and supporting the body's natural abilities to heal. The least invasive and most holistic modalities are the first choice.

The ultimate goal and focus of treatment is to successfully identify and treat the cause of the disease rather than suppressing the body's symptoms, because symptoms are signs of bodily disharmony and not the disease itself.

The Naturopathic approach often requires the physician to educate the patient about their lifestyle choices as well as their physiology.

Licensed Naturopathic physicians are trained to diagnose and treat all chronic and acute health conditions. All Naturopathic providers in Maryland are not trained equally. Some Naturopaths in Maryland have completed 4-year federally accredited medical programs, passed a series of rigorous medical board examinations and hold a medical license in a licenseable state. As of March 1 2016, Maryland will be a licensing state for Naturopathic Physicians.

Acupuncture is a foundational treatment in Traditional Chinese Medicine, that dates back thousands of years. Used to realign the body's energy or Qi (pronounced "chee"), it essentially maintains the dynamic balance of the yin and yang. And while it is not clearly understood how these treatments work, acupuncture undeniably produces healing and therapeutic effects when administered properly.

Headaches & Migraines

Injury & Pain Management

An overwhelming number of people suffer from headaches and migraines, making days a little harder and life a little more stressful. Over the last several years, published research shows evidence that acupuncture is as effective at treating acute migraines and headaches as conventional medicine, sometimes even more so as there are fewer side effects.

In addition, pain ranging from sources such as sciatica, sports injuries, to neck problems received in a car accidents, all respond amazingly well to acupuncture. Most pain and physical injuries can be treated in less than 10 visits.

Thermography creates images that illustrate heat patterns in the body. The thermal images are analyzed for abnormalities which may be signs of disease in the body. Inflammation is a precursor to many diseases, so early detection of inflammation may help prevent many negative health conditions from developing.Thermography is a great tool for early detection of breast conditions that occur often before a lump is formed. The muscular and myofascial inflammation of Fibromyalgia can be objectively and accurately documented & monitored. Difficult to diagnose issues can also be seen with thermal imaging: TMJ,Arthritis (Osteo and Rheumatoid), back pain, neck pain, unexplained pain, sinus issues, and headaches.
